Amec Foster Wheeler, in joint venture with Core Tech International, announces today it has been awarded three major construction projects by the US Navy at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.
North Ramp area – a $44.5 million contract for utilities infrastructure and site development including power, water, wastewater, communications, roads, security fencing, and other site improvements, along with environmental mitigation measures. Funded by the Japanese government, the project is in support of the Guam Military Build-up to realign U.S. military personnel in Japan and Asia. The project is critical to supporting future North Ramp construction at Andersen Air Force Base, which is used by Marine Corps aviation elements on Guam.
Pacific Airpower Resilience (PAR) Tanker Group Maintenance Hangar - a $96.6 million contract for construction, which includes constructing a hardened hangar of cast-in place reinforced concrete. This mission-critical structure will be capable of withstanding 170 mile per hour typhoon winds and will meet all seismic zone four earthquake criteria. The project also includes utilities, site work, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), communications, fire suppression system, pavements, parking and demolition of two existing hangars.
Strike Fuels Systems Maintenance Hangar – an $89.9 million contract for construction, which includes construction of a hardened hangar that will also meet all seismic zone four earthquake criteria and be capable of withstanding 170 mph typhoon winds. Designed to house multiple aircraft types, the hangar facility will provide repairs, functionality checks of aircraft fuel systems, fuel tanks and related systems in support of the US Navy’s Guam Strike Mission. In addition to the construction, the work includes removal of existing pavement, site features and utility relocation and incidental related work.
