Amec Foster Wheeler announces today the award of a contract by Avanzia & Initec Energia for the design and supply of two Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) for the 615 MWe Comisión Federal de Electricidad’s Valle de Mexico II combined cycle power plant.

Under the contract, Amec Foster Wheeler will design, supply and provide erection and commissioning assistance for the two HRSGs to be installed on Siemens STG6-8000H gas turbines. The HRSGs will recover exhaust ‘waste’ heat from the gas turbines to generate steam for additional power, thereby improving the overall plant efficiency without increasing the fuel consumption. Commercial operation of the plant is scheduled for December 2017.

The contract requires 65% minimum national content for the HRSG supply. Amec Foster Wheeler is able to meet this requirement by combining its global expertise with strong local capability and relationships.

This is a significant award for Amec Foster Wheeler in the Mexican power market and it once again demonstrates how we can combine our global reach with local sourcing to meet local content requirements.
