Wood Group apprentice, Greig McKendry scooped the award for Apprentice of the Year at the annual Oil and Gas UK Awards.

Greig was recognised for his talent and commitment in training as an electrical and instrument designer at the annual awards ceremony, which took place on 5th November in Aberdeen.

Greig joined Wood Group PSN (WGPSN) in 2012 and spent three months in our Aberdeen design academy, before transferring to our Glasgow office to work on key client contracts. His academy training, project experience, quality of delivery, and strong work ethic has given him the confidence to handle both medium and larger sized projects with the responsibility for developing design deliverables from inception to construction.

Ron High, UK head of electrical and instrument design for WGPSN who nominated Greig for the award, says: “This award is a fantastic achievement for Greig. He is an outstanding individual who has thrived as part of Wood Group’s emerging talent programme and has the positive attitude and dedication that will help him achieve his career goals and enjoy a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry.”

Greig says: “To be nominated for this award was humbling, to win it is an absolute honour. My peers and senior colleagues at Wood Group PSN have really supported me through my apprenticeship and this accolade is testament to their investment in me.”
