The Wood Group-sponsored Houston-based robotics team – CRyptonite Robotics - has won its third regional competition and is notching up a solid track record for awards in industrial engineering design, quality and team imagery.

The team, part of the Cinco Ranch High School, provides an unparalleled experience in the hands-on analytical problem solving, teamwork, communication and leadership skills that are critical for future technical and business careers.

And it’s more than just building robots. The team and its members strive to make a difference throughout their community and inspire a greater appreciation for science and technology. During their annual science day camp they teach younger students (ages 11-14) about engineering, chemistry, physics and robotics.

Wood Group Kenny employee Scott Henderson is a former member of the CRyptonite Robotics club and graduated from Cinco Ranch in 2007. For him the experience was a turning point – instead of pursuing a pure science degree he made the decision to embrace engineering as a career.

He developed a positive, enduring relationship with us through his involvement, becoming an intern and is now employed as an engineer. Good luck to the team in their upcoming championship tournament. Their hard work, innovation and teamwork have carried them far and are setting them on course for every success in the future.
