Flow assurance is crucial to subsea operations and issues in this area can result in loss of production. Hooman Haghighi, engineering manager at Wood Group Kenny, will tackle one of the main challenges in flow assurance at an industry conference; wax formation and deposition. He will discuss a flow assurance wax study at Subsea Expo, which takes place from 3-5 February at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in Aberdeen.

The case study will focus on the Ravn field production system. Wintershall is currently developing the Ravn field in the North Sea and the fluid is a moderate waxy crude that exhibits non-Newtonian properties. A detailed flow assurance study has been conducted to identify the risk of wax formation and the deposition rates. This presentation will look at how an optimum operating strategy has been developed to minimise the build-up of wax by considering different wax mitigation strategies.

Hooman will present at 12.30pm on Thursday 4 February. Visit www.subseaexpo.com to find out more.
