On October 11, 2019, we received some tragic news about a teammate working in the Mentone region of the Permian Basin, West Texas.

It was a Friday. Sarah Dorman was leaving work and looking forward to the weekend ahead. Just two days shy of her 22nd birthday, a celebratory dinner with her family was being planned for that evening.  She called her dad, Freddy Dorman, from her car to talk about the arrangements.

It was to be their last conversation.

In a heartbreaking account bravely shared by her father Freddy, he tells Sarah’s story; who she was, what she had ahead of her and the moments leading up to and following her untimely death.

The incident has reverberated throughout our organization because it serves as a gut-wrenching reminder of the potential dangers we all face behind the wheel every day.

For me, Freddy’s story reinforces the ripple effect and irreversible consequences one moment or action can have not just on our own lives but on our loved ones.

Freddy Dorman has been incredibly courageous in working with us to tell this story, and honor Sarah’s legacy.  Please join me and the wider Wood community in a global stand down for safety by sharing Freddy’s message with your family, friends and colleagues. #StandDownForSarah
