Wood Group's commitment to working in partnership with Indigenous Australians has been formalized.
We have launched our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), a programme that represents a pledge to respect, provide employment opportunities and build strong relationships with local Indigenous communities in areas where we operate.
Wood Group's RAP has been endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, which promotes the building of relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Andrew Stewart, managing director - Australia & Asia Pacific says: “We are fortunate that our business takes us to all corners of Australia; wherever we work, we nurture local businesses and skills to encourage sustainable community development. Accordingly, it was very important for us to recognise and contribute to the Indigenous people of Australia.
We are very proud to launch our RAP which commits our business to realising Indigenous aspirations through real understanding, real partnerships and real opportunities. It’s been a journey that has at times been uncomfortable, but it has awoken us, created awareness and led to a desire to contribute to a better Australia together
