A Wood Group Elkhorn pipeline team has been recognised for its demonstration of excellence in safe work strategies and procedures.
Billy Wright, a project superintendent in charge of leading a 15-man pipeline crew, was named 2015 Colorado Safe Excavator of the Year by Colorado’s 811, Call Before You Dig.
Colorado 811 is Colorado’s only statewide messaging centre. It is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that provides a communication link between excavators and underground facility owners before any excavation begins as per state law.
This is the third recognition of its kind from Colorado 811 in the past 10 years for the business and the second for Billy and his team who were runners up for the award once before.
The award honours excellence in safe work strategies, knowing and understanding Colorado state law and 811 procedures and working with home owners/utility clients, being able to explain the work to be performed and providing good quality service.
Wood Group Elkhorn’s pioneering efforts in utilising new and safe dig practices and excavation procedures scooped the team the award.
