Cybersecurity – connect and protect
We have been designing, servicing an improving generating plants for over 90 years and successfully logged over 200 million hours of operation around the world. We have track record of supplying reliable operations is underpinned by the supply of thousands of industrial boilers and more than 450 heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) to our customers.
We cost efficiently transform waste and by-product materials into valuable steam or power to meet customers’ energy requirements. Our full range of industrial grate steam generators meet a wide range of industrial energy needs and our proven technology for flue gas emission abatement meets the strictest environmental requirements.
We offer a full range of economical industrial grate steam generators to meet diverse industrial energy needs. We can transform waste and by-product materials into valuable steam or power to meet energy needs cost effectively.
Our grate units offer wide fuel flexibility, ease of operation, low maintenance cost, and low auxiliary power losses.
Wood can supply both air and water-cooled vibrating grates, flat pinhole grates and continuous ash discharge traveling grates with steam capacities up to 600,000 pounds, or 270 metric tonnes, per hour.
Our grate boiler design provides complete combustion and waste incineration, minimising the risk of erosion and providing a longer boiler life.
Wood has been developing solar power market equipment since 1973. The technology was first started by our Solar Development Corporation in support of 27 thermal solar projects and studies for the US Department of Energy and major utilities.
In recent years, the solar power market has emerged with advanced parabolic trough technology as well as the power tower. Wood currently serves both technologies as well as contributing to the design and supply of various types of power towers. The solar boiler island design can control the heat exchanger starting ramps, while reducing the thermal shock which avoids steaming and keeps the stability to low loads.
In addition to supplying evaporators, reheaters, and steam generating components, Wood traditionally supplies power related equipment such as condensers, feedwater heaters, and deaerators to support the total system. We can supply complete steam power islands for parabolic trough and tower thermosolar power plants.
Although most heat recovery steam generators look similar from the outside, Wood’s Foster Wheeler HRSGs have many superior design features that improve reliability, ease of maintenance, and thermal efficiency.
Since supplying our first HRSG to the Rio Pecos combined cycle plant (Texas,USA) in 1958, we have
advanced HRSG technology to a new level of thermal and mechanical performance, reliability and ease of maintenance.
With over 450 of our HRSGs in the field today, we have developed a strong track record of reliable operations and high customer satisfaction for a wide range of combustion turbines.
We offer HRSGs for all applications, ranging from large utility combined cycle power plants to small cogeneration and industrial facilities.
Our customer support doesn’t stop once an HRSG is operational. We provide a broad range of aftermarket services to solve problems and improve performance and reliability of your HRSG. This applies to not only our HRSGs, but to all HRSGs, no matter the OEM.
Significant cost savings can be made by recovering heat that would otherwise be lost during operations. Recovery of process heat for further use achieves the objectives of fuel economy and improved environmental emissions. Wood has world-wide experience in this specialised field, primarily with developing systems which cool hot gases and where the heat removed is used as additional energy.
In certain cases, the recovery of heat may be a secondary benefit to be derived from a requirement to cool exhaust gases prior to further process use or release to the atmosphere. We have supplied over 100 WHB which are currently operating across the globe.
Our package steam generators have been an integral part of our steam generator product range for over 60 years. Originally developed for steam capacities of 30,000 pounds, or 14 metric tonnes per hour, today we offer advanced designs up to 600,000 pounds, or 300 metric tonnes, per hour. With over 500 installations, we have earned our reputation as a supplier of high-quality, reliable and cost-effective package steam generators.
We have extensive experience in designing, fabricating and delivering quality package units that meet our customer’s specification. Shop fabrication of our units provides a controlled manufacturing environment affording maximum quality and reliability, while greatly reducing product cost by avoiding costly field erection.
Wood’s oil and gas boilers are designed to meet global power and steam requirements. For gas (including refinery, coke oven gas and blast furnace gas) and liquid industrial applications, our technologies span a diverse range of both field-erected and shop-assembled designs. We offer reliable standard durable models or customised designs with high turndown, fast ramp rates and one button start-up. The centralised steam plants serving multiple users has caused to the market to expand to units operating at higher steam pressures and temperatures. To serve this market, Wood offers a wide selection of single drum, non-reheat boilers.
We have been designing large utility boilers for the oil and gas industry for over 65 years, with 42 GWe currently erected. These utility boilers are sub and supercritical designs, with a wide range of fuel experiences such us crude oil, liquids and gases residues, blast furnace and coke oven gas.
