Wood extends two-decade long relationship with Equinor
Wood’s roots in Norway run deep. Our story started in the early 1800s in the shipyard industry of Sandefjord, designing ships and rigs. Fast forward to today, and we have grown into a truly trusted partner for the Norwegian energy industry.
We’re proud to support major operators on the Norwegian continental shelf to design, operate, optimise and maintain critical onshore and offshore assets. We are a full asset lifecycle partner, providing value-focused, fit for purpose and quality solutions, from front-end engineering design to decommissioning.
In-region, we hold relationships with major operators that span decades. Our value-focused approach, quality delivery and proactive mindset has built our reputation as a trusted engineering partner. We understand operator challenges, providing solutions to enhance production, optimise efficiencies and improve performance.
With 30+ decades of brownfield experience, we unlock best practice and bring the power of Wood’s global business to Norway. Our people apply this expertise locally and look ahead to 2030 and beyond, delivering solutions that are fit for Norway’s energy future.
We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our workforce and promote an open and inclusive environment. We foster a sense of community, encouraging collaboration and professional development.
Our remarkable people strengthen our delivery for clients. We empower each other to push the boundaries to develop smarter solutions, always seeking to innovate. As our regional pipeline of work continues to grow, so do we.
Large turnarounds, complex modifications and efficiency challenges are all in a day’s work for our Norwegian teams. From studies and design to large EPCm scopes and maintenance strategies, our experts strive to exceed client expectations. We have the competence to solve your unique challenge and take great pride in finding innovative solutions.
With a long history of subsea engineering in Norway, Wood delivers expertise from early-phase studies through to execution and operations. Our multi-disciplinary, technology enabled teams support complex developments across the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
We’ve provided detailed design for subsea infrastructure and pipelines on the Halten Øst development and have executed the design of Norway’s deepest subsea pipeline at a water depth of 1400m.
Our experience in oil and gas is now accelerating the energy transition. We’ve supported almost half of all CO2 storage licenses in Norway, applying our CO2 transport and subsea knowledge to enable carbon capture and storage solutions.
Equinor’s Gullfaks and Snorre platforms needed to be upgraded to receive wind power from Hywind Tampen - the first offshore floating wind park designed solely for electrifying oil and gas infrastructure.
Wood executed topside modifications across Equinor’s Gullfaks and Snorre assets, including engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation scopes.
Wood facilitated platform upgrades, making the integration of the wind park possible.
