Amec Foster Wheeler wins contract for biomass fired CFB boiler

Amec Foster Wheeler announces today that it has been awarded a contract and received notice to proceed by Tecnicas Reunidas SA and Samsung C&T EC UK to design and supply a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generator for the Tees Renewable Energy Plant, in Teesside, UK for MGT Teesside Limited.

MGT Teesside Limited has also awarded a long term service agreement contract to Amec Foster Wheeler for boiler maintenance. Through this agreement, for a minimum term of five years, the owner will get Amec Foster Wheeler’s operations and maintenance experience and latest technology knowhow.

Amec Foster Wheeler will design and supply the 299 MWe (gross) unit of the baseload CFB power plant including auxiliary equipment and onsite technical advisory services for construction and supervisory services for commissioning.

Once it reaches its full 299-MW capacity in 2020, the boiler will be the world's largest CFB boiler utilising only biomass as fuel.
