Amec Foster Wheeler announces today that as part of its strategy to position itself for the next 25 years in the North Sea, it is moving its regional head office in Aberdeen from its City Gate buildings in Altens to the city centre.

The move will see approximately 450 people move from the company’s Altens and Westhill locations to Annan House next to Union Square.

The new office, which offers modern, sustainable, flexible, more efficient and more cost effective accommodation, consolidates a number of the company’s Aberdeen offices into one central hub. This move is in addition to the relocation of the brownfield projects hub in 2015 to three state-of-the-art City View pavilions, also close to the city centre.

Annan House will also be headquarters to qedi, Amec Foster Wheeler’s world-leading commissioning and completions business.

This consolidation into Annan House allows the business to be more cost effective and efficient, as well as being conveniently located next to the main city centre transportation links. Having key operations in these state of the art offices allows the business to use technology efficiently to work with the whole global organisation, enhancing the ability to export North Sea expertise while also minimising cost.

The move is part of a wide range of initiatives the company has put in place to increase efficiency and reduce costs for its customers.

Although we are sad to leave City Gate which has served us well for the last 25 years, we need to make sure we are best placed for the next 25 years. The move gives us a central, sustainable headquarters, bringing a number of offices together on one central site. We are doing things differently to support the long term sustainability of our industry and the North Sea, and this is just another example of that in action.
Alan Johnstone, Amec Foster Wheeler’s Managing Director for Upstream Asset Solutions
