Wood has won a prestigious award for its work with companies in the Chinese nuclear sector.
It received the Best Professional Service accolade in the Confederation of Chinese Business UK (CCBUK) Awards, which were presented in London on Friday, November 24.
Ever since China became involved in the UK’s nuclear new build programme, Wood has been providing advice and technical support to assist reactor vendors to meet the requirements of the UK’s regulatory regime.
The aim of the awards is to promote collaboration between the UK and China and to provide a platform for developing fruitful business in 2017 and beyond.

Wood’s nuclear business has been working for the past three years with China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), which is proposing to build a Chinese-designed reactor at Bradwell in Essex as part of a joint venture with EDF Energy.
Support has covered UK Context training and technical support for the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of the HPR1000 reactor, including help to draw up the Preliminary Safety Report and other key documents required by the Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Environment Agency.
Our role is to ensure that the developers fully understand the safety and environmental requirements of UK nuclear regulation, which are among the most demanding in the world.We are grateful for this recognition of our work on a project which is breaking new ground for international co-operation in the nuclear industry.
Wood’s nuclear business has played a key role in the design and build of every civil nuclear power station in the UK. It has supported GDA and other consent applications for the UK European Pressurised Reactor now being built at Hinkley Point C, the UK Advanced Boiling Water Reactor proposed for Wylfa on Anglesey, and the UK AP1000 reactor proposed for Moorside in Cumbria.
The oldest Chinese business association in the UK with more than 500 members, CCBUK seeks to facilitate investments and business between China and the United Kingdom. The awards are judged by an independent panel of academics and business professionals from the UK and China.
