Oil & Gas Awards, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
More recently, at the Oil and Gas Awards in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), we were proud that one of our remarkable team members, Process Engineer, Mahmood Alabdrabalanbi, was named Young Energy Professional of the Year. The judges commented: “Mahmood Alabdrabalnabi has been recognised for exceptional talent, innovation and leadership in the oil and gas sector, setting a benchmark as a young professional under 35.”
We were delighted to have also been shortlisted for two other awards. Asma Alsayed was nominated for Energy Woman of the Year – testament to her leadership, innovation and advocacy, which continue to make a lasting impact within Wood and the broader oil and gas sector in KSA. The Wood KSA team was nominated for Best Talent Nationalisation Programme of the Year, for which they received commendation on the night.
Our KSA Centre of Excellence programme, launched in 2023, has brought about a shift in how we develop, empower, and elevate national talent, with a focus on investment in structured career pathways and targeted development. Our KSA office has undergone a remarkable transformation: 47% of our 789-strong workforce are KSA nationals, with 259 employees in managerial to senior leadership positions. With nationalisation a central pillar in Saudi Vision 2030, Wood is committed to ensuring skills development of our national workforce.
Mourad Achab, General Manager for Wood KSA, said, “We are delighted to be recognised for our commitment to nationalisation and to be able to celebrate Asma and Mahmood’s success, talent and potential. Wood has a 41-year history in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and continues to go from strength to strength.”
