Wood has been awarded a contract to provide station facility design and construction services to expand Metrolinx’s GO Transit rail service to the Niagara Region. This expansion will reduce congestion and increase travel options for commuters by meeting the growing demand for transportation options to and from Niagara.
With Metrolinx planning to increase service to Niagara, this expansion will require the design, construction, and rehabilitation of stations and layover facilities, which will play a critical role in accommodating the increasing regional service demand. Weekday GO rail service between the future Confederation GO Station and the Niagara Region is anticipated in 2021, with service to Niagara Falls by 2023.
Wood will support the project with preliminary and detailed designs, storm water management, soils and materials remediation, construction supervision, contract administration, and post-construction services.
