Wood is further strengthening its automation and control business by integrating Automated Technology Group (ATG) and CEC Controls (CEC) into its global brand.

ATG and CEC, acquired in 2015 and 2017 respectively, are leaders in the discrete manufacturing space, performing technology integration projects across multiple industries including automotive, logistics, aerospace, food and beverage, and life science industries. The addition of these capabilities allows Wood to further enhance our customers’ operations by deploying cutting-edge technologies and delivering innovative, turn-key automation solutions such as virtual commissioning, digital twin simulation, asset optimization, enhanced error proofing and vision system solutions.

Mark House, Wood’s president of automation and control states: “Automation and control is a key part of Wood’s growth and diversification strategy. As customers accelerate the adoption of Industry 4.0 practices, we see broad, cross-sector opportunities to support them with our skills, experience and digital technology through our Connected Design, Connected Build and Connected Operate approach. Wood’s track record in this area includes working with many of the world’s largest and most respected automotive manufacturers such as Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors, BMW and Fiat-Chrysler, as well as food and beverage companies such as Anheuser Busch, Cadbury and Chivas Regal.

“Leveraging innovation from both the discrete manufacturing and process industries allows us to bring the best of Wood together to solve problems for our customers.” Mr. House commented, “The manufacturing world more quickly adopts new technologies that are just gaining traction in the process industries. Wood’s leadership position in technology such as Open Architecture Solutions, predictive data analytics, wireless and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) puts us at the forefront of innovation and our breadth and diversity allows us to deploy these and deliver value for customers across industries.

“The rebranding of the legacy ATG and CEC Controls businesses as Wood gives us the ability to unify our global talent pool of over 1,400 dedicated automation professionals and combined project delivery expertise to meet our customers’ needs.” Mark House continues, “Leveraging our innovation and system-independent development tools with digital twins allows for the rapid development and deployment of solutions – more cost effective, more proven and at a higher level of quality.”

Wood’s automation and control team delivers technology integration projects and consulting services across 41 offices in 17 countries.  The integration of ATG and CEC also strengthens Wood’s ability to deploy comprehensive automation and control solutions from offices across the UK, US, Canada, China, India, Mexico, Romania and Slovakia

This diverse automation and control capability spans process automation solutions to asset protection systems, as well as intelligent simulation, flow assurance and real-time monitoring solutions.
