The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has awarded Wood its fourth consecutive Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Excellence. The prestigious honor recognizes large federal government prime contractors that excel in their utilization of small business subcontractors and suppliers.
No more than five companies receive this award each year and, of the more than 2,500 businesses in the SBA’s portfolio of large federal contractors, only 2 percent have earned this national award. To even be considered, a company must achieve not less than an outstanding rating on their small business compliance review. It must also exhibit documented outreach and internal initiatives directed specifically at small businesses.
“We are extremely proud of the program we have built and the results it achieves for our customers, our small business partners and for Wood,” said Ann Massey, CEO of Wood’s Environment & Infrastructure Solutions business. “It’s been our longstanding policy to support federal procurement opportunities for maximum achievable participation by small businesses. In the past five years, this has generated more than $207 million in federal subcontracts to our small business partners - and our efforts continue to grow.” The award was presented to Wood in the SBA’s Construction category at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. This year’s accolade follows previous wins in 2015, 2011 and 2007, giving Wood two wins in each of the SBA’s Construction and Services categories. Companies are only eligible to win once every four years.
