Project name:
Sakarya Gas Field Development Project
Client name:
Turkish Petroleum Off-Shore Technology Center (TP-OTC, subsidiary of TPAO)
Location:
Black Sea, Turkey
Key stats
The Challenge:
Integrated and fast-track delivery of a challenging deep water development involving system integration across multiple sites, disciplines, suppliers and contractors
Innovative Approach:
Working across multiple work packages and offering integrated management and digital solutions, Wood brought together key interfaces utilising digital integration and integrity management.
Working in partnership:
We are proud to work in partnership with the team at Turkish Petroleum at every stage of this project.
The Scope
Providing Turkish Petroleum with project management and engineering verification services, the digital and process twin of the pore-to-grid asset, asset-specific comprehensive systems and robust documentation to maintain and operate the Sakarya Gas Field Development during life of field, commissioning support as well as operating phase 1 subsea asset in early life

Current status

As the integrated project management partner for the project, Wood continues to support Turkish Petroleum as they move from phase 1 into phase 2 of the development.

Phase 1 included engineering, procurement and installation of the subsea production system of 10 wells, gas transport and MEG pipelines, umbilical, and onshore processing facility, which has now been completed, and the gas from the field is in production.

Phase 2 involves further development of the field with up to an additional 30 wells. Work began in 2023 and involves a Floating Production Unit to process the produced gas offshore and deliver it to the grid using another gas transport pipeline.

On completion, the Sakarya Gas Field is expected to meet approximately 30% of Turkey’s domestic natural gas demands.

Accelerated delivery and an agile approach

Throughout phase 1, Turkish Petroleum and Wood executed a fast-track delivery with integrated digitalisation and operations readiness and assurance campaign, which included pre-FEED, FEED, EPCI and operational phases, providing the necessary management and engineering support, documentation and data systems to enable safe and efficient start-up, in preparation of first gas. Accelerated delivery and an agile approach, in line with Turkish Petroleum’s project management and asset operation strategy, ensured a focus for the team, coming together to collaborate and deliver against a tight timeline.

Wood mobilised key resources and utilised established internal technology platforms to enable the development and delivery of asset-specific technology platforms, including an integrated maintenance database and an application to provide a comprehensive asset integrity management system.
