NEXUS GIS

NEXUS GIS is an innovative and holistic information management solution designed and developed by Wood. It improves efficiencies and supports projects in managing, viewing and trending asset and survey data through one seamless and scalable environment.

This novel solution has been proven to reduce costs and deliver a number of key benefits which include:

  • Improve efficiencies – The quick and ease of access to a rich source of validated engineering, survey data and documentation through one centralised database.
  • Improve safety – Access to a single source of truth safeguards against the use of wrong or superseded information.
  • Decision support – Informed decisions can be made by leveraging all available engineering, design and construction data overlaid over survey and geotechnical information.

NEXUS GIS Applications

The NEXUS GIS solution can be applied across all project phases, from design through to operations and decommissioning, as a centralised information system for decision support in planning and execution. The streamlined processes in data management, analysis and presentation performed in these phases all contribute to delivering improved efficiencies and reducing costs.

Design Engineering

Our solution provides a platform for stake holders and inter-disciplinary design team to collaborate and evaluate competing design options by reconciling design constraints and against CAPEX costs. The capability to manage large volumes of data generated and collected during design in a variety of formats supports the decision-making process for the optimal design route and field development scenario. Design applications include rapid development of routing scenarios against a backdrop of survey and geotechnical data.

Fabrication

The fabrication and coating data for equipment including materials testing and welding data are managed and tracked within NEXUS GIS, allowing procurement and engineering teams to extract reports on the status of any component. The information gathered is used to provide detailed material information against the weld location once installed for integrity management and operational activities.

Construction

The complex and dynamic nature of installation activities are supported by NEXUS GIS through a wide range of features for monitoring, tracking and planning of activities. The timely provision of installation information and tracking of asset status through a unique data capture and quality assurance process ensures informed decisions can be made based on the latest information thereby improving efficiencies, reducing cost and improving safety. A typical example are the real-time data feeds such as vessel and ROV locations and meteorological data, SimOPS and valve maneuvers.

Operations

The information collected during design, fabrication and construction with document cross references provides an invaluable resource for operational activities to manage and trend year on year inspection data. The provision of a holistic schematic view of assets and their connectivity creates an environment where complex structure details and control system can be viewed, and intelligence added, against specific subcomponents such as valves and control units. Anomaly data resulting from analysis of inspection data can be viewed and tracked through NEXUS GIS through to resolution.
