The FPSO was experiencing water injection and power limitations, which restricted future gas recovery. The client needed a workable technical solution supported by clear cost and schedule definition ahead of a key decision gate.
Wood carried out reliability and availability modelling across multiple options as part of a concept study for a major topsides modification. The analysis confirmed that a single, larger gas‑turbine‑driven seawater injection pump could deliver the same availability as a multi‑pump configuration.
Wood’s modelling enabled the client to adopt a lower‑cost, streamlined single‑pump solution, removing the need for an additional seawater injection pump and associated equipment. This optimisation delivered a $22 million saving against CAPEX, achieved through robust technical definition of the concept and a clearer, more efficient execution schedule.
