Asset performance management – beyond the software
The Sakarya Gas Field Development is expected to meet approximately 30 per cent of Turkey’s domestic natural gas demand with first production from phase one’s 10 wells anticipated in 2023. The second phase, between 2023 and 2028, will involve development of the remaining 30 wells.
TPAO and Wood delivered a fast-track Operations Readiness and Assurance (ORA) campaign for phase one of the development, providing the necessary documentation and data systems to enable safe and efficient start-up operations for first gas. Accelerated delivery and an agile approach, in line with TPAO’s asset management and operation strategy, meant a laser sharp focus for our teams, coming together to collaborate and successfully deliver against a tight programme.
Wood utilised established ‘in-house’ technology platforms to enable the development and delivery of asset specific technology platforms including an integrated maintenance database and an application to provide a comprehensive integrity management system.
Utilising our in-house capabilities we delivered and maintained robust data management systems, eliminating the need for rework and duplicated effort, ensuring we delivered safely, on time and within budget.
The ORA project formed part of a wider integrated programme of delivery by Wood, including digital twin, process twin and operations assurance which are integral parts of TPAO’s visionary digitalisation agenda.
With more than 4,800 documents to be reviewed as part of readiness operations, collaboration and teamwork was essential across our Operations and Consulting business units and most importantly with TPAO and TPAO’s other contractors.
Delivering to consistently high standards due to changing site requirements, including natural disasters, meant agile working and innovative approaches as well as TPAO’s timely support and assistance for these were important.
Teaming up across multiple scopes of work, all in support of TPAO, led to increased success. Teams from United Kingdom, the Philippines, Canada, and Australia were involved in around eight scopes across this initial fast track project.
