What happens if I die?

Pensions
Expression of wish form

Death before retirement

If you die before you have started to access your pension savings, your spouse or dependants will receive the value of your Retirement Account as a lump sum.

If you die when retired

If you die after you have retired the benefits your spouse or dependants will receive will depend on the choices you made at retirement.

Who will receive death benefits?

Complete an Expression of Wish form to let the Trustee know who you would like to receive any lump sum payable. The Trustee is not bound by your wishes but will take them into account. Remember to keep your Expression of Wish form up to date, for example if you get married or have a child.

To update your Expression of Wish details, log onto the Pensions Portal to update your beneficiaries and dependants.
