Gerry Traynor, President of Projects in the eastern hemisphere, has been appointed to the Gastech 2026 Executive Committee, bringing extensive global gas and LNG delivery experience to one of the industry’s most influential forums.
Gastech is one of the world’s leading gatherings for natural gas, LNG and low-carbon energy - a forum that shapes dialogue across industry, policy and finance at a pivotal time for global energy markets. As a member of the Executive Committee, Gerry will help guide the agenda and contribute to discussions that influence how the global gas community responds to evolving market dynamics, capital discipline and decarbonisation priorities.
Over the past 12 months, Wood has strengthened its position at the forefront of the gas sector through involvement in some of the industry’s most significant developments. The company is providing critical engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) support for ADNOC’s Habshan gas processing expansion, one of the largest of its kind globally, as well as brownfield engineering services for Shell’s Prelude Floating LNG (FLNG) facility, the world’s largest offshore floating gas asset. These projects reinforce Wood’s deep technical capability and hands-on delivery experience across complex gas infrastructure.
Gerry will help to broaden the agenda across the full gas value chain, highlighting the challenges and opportunities shaping today’s market from upstream processing and compression to LNG liquefaction, storage, regasification and import terminal integration. In parallel, the increasing influence of digital and AI‑enabled approaches across the sector offers important lessons for improving predictability, enhancing performance and mitigating risk. These emerging capabilities are reshaping how the industry plans, executes and optimise assets and Gerry’s insight into their practical application will help to the forum’s strategic direction, especially as the industry seeks competitive advantage while advancing lower‑carbon solutions.
Commenting on his appointment, Gerry Traynor said: “Gastech plays a vital role in shaping the global gas agenda. As the industry navigates energy transition, security of supply and investment challenges, it is essential that discussions remain focused on practical delivery. I look forward to contributing to an agenda that supports the development of competitive, executable and lower-carbon gas projects.”
This year’s Gastech will be held at BITECH in Bangkok, Thailand. Wood will be exhibiting on Stand C57 in the main hall. Discover how Wood made an impact at last year’s event by visiting our Gastech 2025 page.
