Wood has joined forces with global resiliency-focused business group Resilience First, to be its first corporate ambassador.
Through this partnership, Wood and Resilience First will work collaboratively to further a collective focus on developing and delivering climate resilience across the economy through shared projects which draw on a network of infrastructure-focused partners and clients.
Resilience First is a business-led membership organisation, supported by over 600 global corporations and key stakeholders operating in over 150 countries in a cross-section of industry sectors, with a mission to advance resilience best practice across urban business communities.
Through this new agreement, which runs for an initial two-year period, Peter Hall, Wood’s VP and Global Director for Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure will join Resilience First’s advisory board. As part of this, Wood will help to progress The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Race to Resilience global campaign, on which Resilience First is a leading partner, to accelerate business action for global resiliency of people.
The partnership will also co-create a new resilience workstream and facilitate jointly hosted events, including at COP26, to drive resiliency action and leverage Wood expertise across the resiliency agenda. The collaboration also builds on existing partnerships between The Resilience Shift and the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure.
Peter Hall, Wood’s VP, Global Director for Sustainable & Resilient Infrastructure, explains: “With the impact of climate change and the need for resiliency ever more visible as well as COP26 approaching, the race to resilience and action is intensifying across government and industry. Our partnership and active role as an advisor to Resilience First will play a critical role in our collective success and engagement with the private sector.
“We’re delighted to partner with Resilience First to encourage best practice, helping to shape world-class resilient infrastructure projects by sharing knowledge and experience for the benefit of wider industry. This partnership will help energise the Race to Resilience and the work that must be done to improve the resiliency of people that will continue to face climate shocks.”
Michael Rooney, CEO of Resilience First, adds: “We’re delighted to welcome Wood as our first Ambassador. Wood brings invaluable technical know-how and innovation to our global network, helping to empower business to adapt and embed resilience through urgently needed transformative action. We very much look forward to working closely together to advance the resilience agenda.”
