Wood has appointed German Carmona as the President of its Applied Intelligence business, to further strengthen its consulting services and technical leadership in enabling the digital transformation of Wood’s clients.

As we build towards a net-zero world, there is heightened pressure to transform both business and operations through digital innovation, to enable organizations to fulfill current and future global energy needs, and to drive the energy transition and advance Industry 4.0 adoption.

With almost 30 years’ experience across various industrial sectors, German brings extensive expertise in defining and executing digital transformation programs. As a global change leader, German has successfully revolutionized businesses in challenging and uncertain markets. He joins Wood from NEORIS, a global digital accelerator, where he most recently led the Digital Transformation consulting practice.

In his new role, German will focus on building Wood’s differentiated capabilities, translating strategies into action, and leveraging cross-industry expertise to help the company’s clients transform and create value through digital innovation. He will also evolve the deep technical domain knowledge of the Applied Intelligence business to extend across adjacent end markets, while building on Wood’s extensive experience within existing energy and industrial markets.

Ranked as the #1 System Integrator Giant by Control Engineering Magazine, Wood’s Applied intelligence business provides differentiated digital solutions for process optimization, autonomous systems, and intelligent operations across O&G, energy, and other industrial sectors.

Joe Sczurko, Executive President of Consulting at Wood, said: “As industries digitize, an agile and iterative approach is needed to accelerate time to value and reduce risk for operational transformation. With his strong background in delivering cutting-edge digital solutions, I am confident German’s leadership will enable us to create intelligent strategies, build partnerships, and pioneer services, products and solutions to tackle our clients' biggest challenges.”

Commenting on his new role, German, added: “This is an exciting time to join Wood as we push the boundaries and reimagine how businesses operate for resilient outcomes. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to unlock the value creation power and potential of digital technologies. I look forward to helping organizations embrace the power of digital solutions and evolve their business to create a sustainable future for energy and industry.”
